Fed Chair Speech
Released On 12/6/2018 6:45:00 PM For 12/6/2018 6:45:00 PM

Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Jerome Powell to deliver brief welcoming remarks at the Housing Assistance Council's Rural Housing Conference in Washington, DC.

In brief comments at a rural housing conference, Jerome Powell said the U.S. economy is "currently performing very well overall" including job creation which he described as "strong" and wages which he said are "gradually rising". These comments come before tomorrow's November employment report where solid job growth and an expansion high for average hourly earnings are the expectations. Yet the Fed chief also repeated that some communities have not fully shared in the benefits of the expansion.
